Exploring New Ideas

It’s been a few months since I’ve been here. I know I should get better at that.

I finished uploading my newest album to NPR for them to use in their Invisibilia podcast. That was an interesting project. I had to categorize each song with moods/emotions. At first it threw me that I would need to do that. Like how was I going to do that? Most of the time I don’t have a particular thought or emotion in mind when I am producing. Many times they should up after I’ve begun. I started actively listening to my music in order to make these categorizations. It actually became easy to do so and kind of fun.

I’ve been working on new stuff. I’m trying a new technique, using a favorite song and marking whenever something happens. A new instrument, a new effect, a transition. The I use that formula to create a song. It’s been quite helpful. It’s almost like a road map, so it’s been nice to feel like I have some direction to work within.

I am working on some new pieces to send to a yoga teach teacher I very much love and admire for her to use in her videos if she wishes to do so. She has inspired me and given me the gift of doing my own home yoga practice which has helped in my life tremendously.

I’ve also taken on yet another new hobby. Painting mandala rocks. I know I’m late to this party and apparently it’s fairly popular, but it has been sort of therapeutic for me and I feel like it’s good to have multiple creative outlets to keep the creativity flowing.

So that’s what’s going on!
